Shigemi grew up in Sichuan and Shanghai. She gave herself a Japanese name and this is her fifth summer in Tokyo. She says: "Film, music, literature... I've loved Japanese culture since I was in junior high school. That saved me from not having any friends at school. I like singers and bands that started in the 80s and 90s, so I'm happy and grateful to be able to go to live concerts in Tokyo. I've been to see Jun Togawa live seven times. I also went straight to the cinema when the Fishmans documentary film came out! I just get so excited at times like this, I have this crazy energy. I also like coffee shops and snack bars, weird and cute parks, treasured museums, Showa-era love hotels and pink cinemas. It's a culture that only exists in Japan. I'm excited to explore these things.
In recent years, she has become more interested in natural creatures such as plants, animals and insects. "This year I've given up smoking and eating meat! I kept a butterfly for this summer and I kept a diary of its growth. The first time I saw a caterpillar, I was so scared and I couldn't move my legs. The whole life of a butterfly is a philosophical one, including overcoming fear. I'd like to start an art project about the experience of living with them." Shigemi's partner is Dodo, a blue parrot. She puts her in a cage when she sleeps, but she flew around freely throughout the shoot.
Favourite movie: There are many movies I like. I love Japanese cult films from the 90s and 2000s, and French New Wave. There are also a lot of interesting films from the sixth generation of Chinese directors. Anyway, as long as it's a B-movie from the 90s or early 2000s, I love it, regardless of the rating!
Music I listen to on holiday: CityPop because it's summer!

しげみは四川と上海育ち。自分で日本名をつけたという彼女にとって、東京の夏は5回目。「映画、音楽、文学…。中学生のときから日本のカルチャーが大好き！ 当時学校で友達ができなかったわたしを救ってくれました。私が好きなのは80〜90年代に活動を始めた歌手やバンドなので、東京でライブに行けて嬉しい、ありがたい。戸川純のライブは7回も見に行った。フィッシュマンズのドキュメンタリー映画が公開されたときも映画館に直行！ こういうときだけテンションめっちゃ上がって、とんでもない行動力持ってる。笑 あとは、喫茶店とスナックも好き、変なかわいい公園も好き、秘宝館とか昭和のラブホテルとかピンク映画館とかも好き。日本にしかない文化だから、ワクワク調査しながら巡るのが趣味です」
ここ最近、植物、動物、昆虫などの自然の生き物に関心持つようになったという。「この1年でタバコもやめた、お肉もやめた！ 最近は蝶を飼い始めました。成長過程を観察して日記をつけてる。初めてイモムシを見た瞬間、怖くて足が動かなくなった。恐怖心を乗り越えることも含めて、蝶の生涯はすべて哲学的なもの。一緒に暮らした経験をテーマにアートプロジェクトを始めたいな」そんなしげみの相棒は、ブルーのインコのドドちゃん。寝るときケージに入れてあげるそうだけど、撮影中もずっと自由に飛び回っていました。
好きな映画：たくさんある、山ほどある。日本の90年代2000年代のカルト映画、フランスのニューウェーブも大好き。中国の第六世代の監督作品も面白いのが多い。とにかく90年代か2000年初期のB級映画であれば、評価関係なく好き！
休日に聴いている音楽：夏だからCityPop
