Tasuku has been in the entertainment industry for more than 15 years, but his passion now lies in music. When he was a junior high school student, he joined a Japanese famous talent agency to become an actor, and later joined an entertainment agency where many big-name actors belong. He says he has switched to respecting his own wishes, ‘I want to be active freely while many things are intertwined.’
'I feel a good pressure to work a bit harder, but at the same time, I feel like I've finally found the environment I've been looking for. I found what kind of soil I want to grow in and what kind of environment I want to work in. Now is the start line again. I've completed two songs and I'm working on a third.'
As well as learning the mechanics of a song etc for himself, he also values the discoveries he makes in sessions with other artists. For example, when he worked with the band Babylon Panic on his latest song, he said, 'It was fun to work with them in an analog way to have the song come out naturally.' He has many friends around him who support him in his current activities, including people he has met in his past career, his high school dance studio, events, and clubs he used to go to. But at first, he wanted to be able to make music on his own, so he named his own group "THE EMPTY ORCHESTRA". I feel it's a good style to team up with people who agree with what I want to make from time to time. 'Actors have a scenario drawn out by other people, but with music, I create my own story from the words I want to say and the issues I want to raise, and then I'm excited to find my own music production team and film crew.'
'As I wrote in the lyrics of my latest song, I don't want to be like John Lennon or Bob Marley, who had been threatened with death and worshiped. I don't want people to say 'he was brave' when I make music. I don't think I have that kind of courage, because they wrote a lot of songs about politics and the state. I don't want to call someone 'the enemy.' Of course, I make music for myself, but I don't think it's right to hurt someone else in order to make yourself feel better. But everyone has a right to choose, so I'd be happy if someone else feels good about what I feel good about. I don't know if it will get to expand the influence, but I think I have a chance to try it out now.'

15年以上の芸歴を持つ匡（たすく）。俳優とモデル業をこなしながらも、いまは音楽へ情熱が傾いているという。中学生の頃、俳優を目指すためにタレント事務所に入り、そのあとに大物俳優が多く所属する芸能事務所に所属したが、俳優というよりも“芸能人”を育てるような方針ややりたい音楽の方向の違いなどから「リアルに伝えていって、いろんなことが絡み合いながら活動していきたい」という自分の意志を尊重していく、という方向に切り替えたという。
「もうちょっと頑張らないといけないという良いプレッシャーを感じながら、やっと自分の求めていた環境が整ったなという感覚で。畑で言うとどういう土壌でどういうふうに育っていきたいか、どういう環境で仕事したいかっていうのをやっと見つけられたかなと思っています。今が改めてスタートライン。曲を2つ完成させて、いま3つ目をつくっているというところです」
曲の仕組みなどを自分自身で学ぶのはもちろんだが、人とセッションをしながらの発見を大切にしているという。例えば、BABYLON PANICというバンドと最新曲を一緒に制作したときには「アナログに動きながらつくっていくというか、ナチュラルに曲ができてあがってといくというのがとても楽しかった」音楽制作のために借りているスタジオを通して新しい人とも出会うこともあるが、今までのキャリアのなかで出会った人はもちろん、高校のときのダンススタジオ、何かのイベント、昔よく行ってたクラブで出会った人など周りには今の活動を応援してサポートしている友人が多くいるという。ただ、最初は自分でできるようになりたいと思うため自分ひとりのグループ名として「THE EMPTY ORCHESTRA」という名前をつけたそう。こういったものをつくりたい！というものに賛同してくれた人とその都度チームを組んでいく、というスタイルがちょうどいいと感じている。だから今後は「俳優はシナリオが描かれているけど、音楽は発したい言葉や提起したい問題から自分でストーリーを作って、音楽の制作チームや映像の撮影グループを自分で見つけていく、というのにワクワクしています」
「最新曲の歌詞で書いた『でも本当のことを言うと、ジョン（・レノン）やボブ（・マーリー）のように、命を狙われて、（死んじゃったから）拝まれて』っていうのはあまり僕は望んでないし、音楽をつくる上で『彼は勇敢だ』と言われたいわけではないし、僕にはそこまでの勇気はないかなと思う。彼らは政治や国家に対して曲をつくることが多かったと思うから。でもそれだと敵対心になっちゃうし、でもその人らは根本的には敵ではないと思うし、そういう肩書きだったりはもはや関係ないんじゃないかなと思う一方で、振り回されている自分もいるし。だからそこを見ない訳ではないけど遠回しに言ってるかな。音楽はもちろん自分のためにつくっているという部分もあるけど、自分が気持ちよくなるために誰かを傷つけたりするというのは良くないなと思う。だけど、誰でも選択権があるから、自分が気持ちいいと思っているのを誰かも気持ちいいって思ってくれたら嬉しいし、それが拡大するのかは分からないけど、今それを試すチャンスももらっていると思う」
